We're not dead!

Hey everyone!

You've probably noticed its been almost a month since our last podcast -- don't panic, we've noticed too. The four of us have had quite a lot going on and haven't had the time or schedule overlap to sit down and do a good show for you all.

But don't worry! We aren't going on another hiatus or anything. Right now we're aiming to record a show some time next weekend, but I can't make any promises on that because who knows what could come up between now and then. 

I just wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know that we aren't dead and that there will be a new podcast in the semi-near future. Sorry about the wait!

The Rumble Pak Episode 3: Mysterious Stranger

Episode 3 of The Rumble Pak podcast is now live! With a shorter than usual show, and a full cast (well, for half of the show anyway -- gasp!), the boys and I sat down to discuss what we've been playing and how much we love Dead Space in the first segment.
In the second segment Ommy joins us for a discussion about the recent global recession and how it is currently affecting the gaming industry as well as how it may affect it in the future. This is definitely an interesting discussion that shouldn't be missed -- and at just under an hour long running time, you really have no excuse not to listen in!
You all may have noticed the recent Twitter feed we've added to the blog (to the left of this post). We decided it would be a good way to make small updates concerning the show without making new blog entries and spamming up subscriber's RSS feeds. We'd really appreciate it if you'd follow us on Twitter and help spread the word about our podcast! (Or just leave us awesome reviews on iTunes -- that would rule!)
We are also still accepting listener questions, comments, etc. so please send them to our e-mail address on the left or in a comment here on the blog. Your feedback is important to us and the direction we take this podcast in the future so don't hesitate to let us know what you think! The Rumble Pak Episode 2: Get Money, Get Paid!

After last week's epic 2 hour return special, we decided to tone things down a bit this week with a smaller show with two segments, clocking in at about an hour and twenty four minutes.

First we chat about what we've been playing, followed by an in-depth discussion on storytelling and narrative in video games. Its an interesting discussion with a lot of excellent points. There are some choice bloopers after the outro, so make sure you keep listening after the exit music!

The Rumble Pak Episode 1: Flying Chainsaws

Well, the dust has settled and I'm more than happy to announce that our podcast has finally returned after a months-long hiatus! 

With the resurrection of the show, we have decided that we'd like to take it in a new direction, under a new name: The Rumble Pak. We've also totally revamped the blog as part of the relaunch. 

For our first new show in ages we really came back with a bang. This show totals just over 2 hours of discussion on our favorite games of 2008 and the games we're most looking forward to in 2009. 

I hope you all enjoy it. Please leave us lots of feedback (we'll take the good and the bad), and I look forward to podcasting on a more regular basis!

Indefinite Hiatus

Hi everyone, its Ryan again. You've probably noticed by now that our podcasting schedule has become a little, well... Erratic. This is due to a multitude of factors. We lost an original member in Sam, scheduling conflicts have pretty much been the thorn in our side throughout this entire thing, and a general loss of interest are just a few of those factors.

Besides, judging by my hit tracking and RSS tracking, hardly ANYONE listens to this anyway, so it feels to me I'm doing a lot of work for nothing. I didn't realize doing a podcast would be this difficult and I'm starting to realize that maybe I bit off a little more than I could chew.

So, having said that, I just wanted to let everyone know that until further notice the Gaming Random Thoughts podcast is going to be on an indefinite hiatus. This doesn't mean we won't ever do another show, because I'm sure I'll want to come back to this eventually, it just means that we probably aren't going to be doing another one for a very long time. I'm starting back up college this semester, Artie is already back in school, and it was already a pain trying to schedule a time BEFORE we were both back in class, so I can't imagine the nightmare it would be now.

So anyway, thanks for listening to the very few episodes we managed to put out, and I guess look forward to the very few episodes we might possibly put out in the distant future.
